Falmouth Rotary Club has presented to two charities in the village some of the monies raised by the 2018 Fun Run.

The event raised £2500 for Rotary charities and this week President Chris Ohly gave a cheque for £500 to Nigel Druce for furnishings for the new conservatory at Scott House Abbeyfield home and £400 to Ian Newman, Treasurer of Mawnan Memorial Hall, towards the cost of a new public access defibrillator to be installed outside the hall.

Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust

Mawnan Reading Partners

Mawnan School

Mawnan Bowling Club

The 2017 Mawnan Fun Run raised £2000 for Falmouth Rotary Club charities and the Club proposes donating up to 50% of this sum to youth charities and organisations in the Parish of Mawnan.

Organisations can apply for a maximum of £250 to fund a specific trip, event, activity or piece of equipment and it is hoped that a number of different small projects will be supported.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 28 February 2018.

Since Falmouth Rotary Club became involved in organising the Fun Run in 2012, a total of over £11,000 has been raised for Rotary and local charities.
